In football, Czech league leaders Viktoria Plzeň secured a narrow 1:0 away
win against Zlín on Sunday night.
The win leaves Plzeň nine points clear of second placed Slavia Prague with a game in hand. It was the first league win for Plzeň since the start of the Spring half of the season.
Slavia failed to close the gap on Saturday in spite of overhauling a three goal deficit to draw 3:3 in the Prague derby against Sparta Prague.

Prague derby against Slavia.
Slavia equalized in the fifth minute of extra time when Milan Škoda converted a penalty. The draw leaves Slavia in second place in the league, six points adrift of leaders Viktoria Plzeň. Plzeň play later on Sunday.
Sparta, playing at home, still have not got a win under their new manager, Pavel Hapal.
The last Czech football team in European competitions, Viktoria Plzeň, has
been eliminated from the Europa League and hopes of getting through to the
Plzeň clawed back a two goal deficit from the away leg against Sporting Lisbon at home on Thursday night thanks to two gaols from Marek Bakoš. But Sporting Lisbon found the net in extra time to dash the West Bohemian club’s hopes.
Lisbon had earlier hit the post and missed a penalty in regular time.
In football, Viktoria Plzeň lost in the first leg of their Europa League
last 16 away tie against Portuguese team Sporting Lisbon 2:0.
Both goals were scored by Montero. The result leaves the Czech club with a major challenge to get through to the quarter finals when they play at home in a week.
Manager Pavel Vrba said Lisbon’s individual quality showed through in the first leg and suggested the Czechs would have to score quickly in the second leg to stand a chance of overturning the deficit.
Members of the Czech Olympic team touched down in Prague on Monday – back from Pyeongchang and one of the most successful winter games in recent memory. It was an Olympics where speed skater Martina Sablíková and snowboard cross competitor Eva Samková confirmed they still had it and Ester Ledecká made history by winning golds in snowboard and super-G. On Monday afternoon, she, Martina Sablíková and others were greeted by thousands at the Old Town Square.
In football, Viktoria Plzeň have booked their place in the last 16 of the
Plzeň beat Partisan Belgrade 2:0 at home on Thursday night in the second leg of the tie. That meant a 3:1 win on aggregate.
The opening goal was scored by Michael Krmenčik in the 67th minute. A second goal was added by Čermák in stoppage time. The draw for the next round takes place on Friday afternoon.
In football, Viktoria Plzeň have agreed to lend midfielder Václav Pilař
to Slovan Liberec until the end of the season.
Pilař has been injured for most of the season but is expected to be recovered by the Spring with the possibility in a few matches before the end of the season.
Pilař has been part of the national team since 2011. He returned to Plzeň in 2014 after a period playing in Germany’s Bundesliga.
