Sparta Prague lead domestic football league after victory over Drnovice

On the domestic front, Sparta Prague are still leading the Czech football league, after a 3:0 win over Drnovice on Saturday. Sparta's captain, defender Jiri Novotny, scored one goal in each half - Jiri Jarosik got Sparta's third. The weekend's most important game was that between the two teams who are hot on Sparta's heels - Viktoria Zizkov and Slovan Liberec. Liberec received at least some satisfaction for the painful defeat it suffered in Dortmund. They beat Zizkov 1-0 on a muddy pitch which the referee declared play-worthy, although the players themselves thought otherwise. Liberec are now second, two points behind Sparta.
